Working in the studio on drawings at present, I’ve completed a series of 40 drawings made during the season of Lent.  A drawing made every day to a format that seemed restricting initially but gave rise to many interpretations and variations. Based on a grid of 40 rectangles, working only in graphite and an eraser, the grid is sometimes the whole drawing, at other times it breaks up, and sometimes disappears altogether.  Working with repetition and erasure the process is a means of marking the time – it is a material reminder of my presence in the studio at a particular time – I’m turning up to literally ‘mark time’.  Here are a few of the drawings – I will post more in the following days. Now considering how to show all 40 drawings together, unframed.
